There is something so special about a girl’s childhood best friend. Not that boys don’t make close friends but with girls it’s different, maybe it’s because they are free to articulate it- you are my sister, my best friend forever, and in the most pure and sincere way they absolutely mean it. Hours spent over years whispering in the dark at sleepovers or floating in the pool in the afternoon sun, doing each other’s hair, curling up for a movie- breed a closeness it’s hard to find later in life. This is my daughter and her best friend. Summer is coming to an end, changes are on the horizon, so for today I wanted to capture them just as they are, in all their giggly glory. Sometimes you need to step back from the big picture and see that life is just about the little things.
