So I told little Cruz’s mommy that I had not had a newborn boy in a while, he was breaking a streak. I just went back and counted, I’ve had 9 baby girls in a row! Clearly my blog is in dire need of some testosterone. So here he is, in all his gorgeousness, 7 day old Cruz. Cruz stayed awake for a while and let me get some great alert shots then fell into a deep sleep and let me pose him. Aside from a little poop and pee the perfect newborn session :) Enjoy the sneak peek, much more to come.

Introducing the Valencia High School 2010– 2011 Varsity dance team! I met up with the team at Ventura Beach on Saturday where they were staying for a team building retreat. We had so much fun and took so many pictures it was nearly impossible to narrow down. The eight time national champion dance team is looking forward to an amazing year and is excited to welcome their new adviser Mrs. Brown. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of them during the year, enjoy the sneak peek!
Meet 16 day old Rorri! Rorri came to the studio yesterday along with her sweet big sister Kalli. Kalli wasn’t entirely sure she wanted in on this photoshoot so we proceeded with just newborn photos of Rorri. It took me some time to get her to sleep but once Rorri was out, she was out! Right at the end we decided to give some sibling shots one more try and I’m so glad we did!!! Kalli could not have been cuter with her sister or more proud. Enjoy the sneak peek, much more to come…
Cassel is another baby planner that visits me every month. Today he was back for his 3 month pictures, um… hello gorgeous! Cassel’s getting so big and changing so fast, it’s a joy to watch him grow. I think he should be the next Gerber baby, I love my guys short, bald, and chubby :) Enjoy the sneak peek, much more to come…

Today I had the pleasure of meeting gorgeous 10 day old Luchiana! Circumstances beyond our control required Luchiana’s photo shoot to be very brief. We had an hour and 20 minutes total to get what we needed. If you’ve had a newborn session with me you know that’s not much time! Luchiana must have sensed we were in a hurry because she was a perfect doll and let us get everything we needed. Luchiana’s daddy is out of the country and he hasn’t had the opportunity to see her yet so this is for you daddy, both of your gorgeous girls. Enjoy the sneak peek, much more to come…

Today Stella was back for her 7 month pictures, wow is time flying! Stella was excited to show me some new tricks this month, she’s crawling, pulling up, bouncing on her knees, crazy! Stella brought some special knit toys with her, handmade by her grandma. Of corse we had to incorporate those. I hope you all all enjoying watching Stella grow as much as I am!
Bringing your older children to your new baby’s photo shoot can often be difficult. It’s long, they get bored, having them toted back and forth can be a logistical problem. I certainly get why some mommies opt to leave them at home. I also know that a week or two later these mommies wish they had some of those sweet shots of them together. Several times now I’ve offered to have the family pop back into the studio for 20 minutes to get some quick shots of the kids, every time I’ve been so thrilled we did! Little Eloise brought big sister Audrey and brother Oliver back for just such a mini shoot. I am in love with the pictures. They’re casual and paired down, not too fussy, they just highlight the children’s wonder at their new baby sister.

There’s a storm brewing here in town regarding the Bridgeport development and their place within the greater Valencia masterplan. In a nutshell yesterday signs went up stating Bridgeport was private property for residents only and photography was specifically prohibited. According to the city of Santa Clarita the areas surrounding the lake at Bridgeport were always zoned and intended to have public access and those areas are considered part of the Valencia paseo network and therefor the signs are illegal and must be removed. Tonight the signs remain threatening prosecution if you enter Bridgeport or God forbid take a picture. I was asked to write an article on the subject for SCVtalk.com. Within 20 minutes of my article being posted the Signal Newspaper called and asked me for an interview. Clearly people pay attention to SCVtalk.com and the information and opinions shared there. Please go read the article, learn the details and leave some comments with your opinions on the situation. Here’s some pictures I’ve taken at Bridgeport over the years, it would be a darn shame if that area were no longer available to SCV residents even though the development was approved for construction based upon it being open the the public and part of the paseo network. Imagine what our beautiful community would be like if each neighborhood in Valencia declared their section of the paseos private property and blocked access. It certainly would no longer be the community we’ve all come to love and call home.
This past weekend I had the pleasure of traveling to North Carolina with 21 other amazing photographers and friends for a workshop. We worked with a variety of models and had the opportunity to learn as well as teach our specialties. We photographed high school seniors, newborn babies, tween kids, families, maternity, hot married couples, siblings, all coordinated by our amazing hostess Dana Jackson of Carolina Beach. It was truly a privilege to watch such fantastic photographers do their thing, I really learned so much. I got to lead and instruct natural light newborn as well as tween kids and hope I shared some valuable information with my peers. Life long friendships were forged and we all came away reinvigorated and inspired. Here’s just a little bit of what I shot:
