I LOVE your website and your work is inspirational. You’re awesome. I loved the article about creating balance as I just started my business full time, and I am a wife and Mother of three girls.
I am very interested to know what the backdrop system is that you have mounted to your wall. The dimensions of my studio are almost identical to yours, and I am always looking for space saving ideas.
I just got a space that is about the same size as your studio. Today I started panicing with the thoughts of “is it big enough” and “how am I going to arrange it without cluttering it”; I came across your studio photos on Pinterest and it completely eased my anxiety! I love everything about your studio! Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi Laurie, thanks so much for sharing this. My soon-to-be studio space is the spitting image of yours and this post has given me tons of food for thought on how to furnish it. Do you do in-person viewing from there too? C xx
I love your work and your studio is beautiful. I am working on reorganizing my studio, cutting down on clutter and organizing props so I don’t go crazy. My studio is in house and my lovely children often claim a corner for arts and craft. Thank you for sharing.
I love your studio, so clean, contempory and just amazing. I definately would love to do one like yours. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!!
(my website is coming!) And I have a baby shoot today, can’t wait!)

Just out of curiousity, what is your lens of choice? My studio space is 16×20, and i have it set up similar to yours, but it’s difficult to get full body shots (bigger children) with my 50mm.
Hi!
First of all I think your work is amazing!
I was wondering if you could tell me if your studio was once a garage and did you add an ac unit or do you just use fans in there? I have a garage similar to it and want to do something like it :) thanks so much!
Love your studio! Getting ready to do my bonus room. Looking for dark floors like yours. Do you know the name and color? Are they engineered or laminate?
Hi Laurie, first of all i have to let you know that I LOVE your work! Thank you so much for answering so many questions for woman around the world! I was wondering on a sunny morning when the sun is its highest and there are no clouds in site what are the approximate settings you use for ISO, aperture and shutter speed. I’m finding I am getting a lot of over exposed photos of my little guy at the park. I use a 50mm 1.4
If he’s in the sun it’s overexposed. If he’s in a shaded area then he’s too dark and everything else is overexposed. He has really white skin. Lol
Hi there, I wouldn’t really ever shoot in full sun in the morning. There’s a great book called Understanding Exposure that may be helpful to you. I always expose for the skin, but there are certain conditions, like mid moring over head sun, where you just won’t likely get good results.
Wow such beautiful pictures and a gorgeous studio! I have my first proper newborn/family shoot tomorrow and I am soooooo nervous :) eeep! Can’t wait until I am as good as you :) #inspired xxx
Hi Laurie!! Do you know where we can find one of the light diffusing roller shades?? I haven’t been able to find one as effective & beautiful as yours! Thanks!! ;)
What are the dimensions of your studio! I love it!
Hi Savannah, it’s 10 x 20.
Saw this pinned on Pinterest! You have a beautiful studio!
thank you!
Thanks for sharing your amazing studio!
I’m very glad I’ve found a photo on Pinterest directing me to your blog! Your photos are really inspiring!
Was looking for a small spaced studio idea that was elegant, functional and simple. Yours is the perfect inspiration. Thanks for sharing!
Do you have a special covering on your window to get such soft light?
I use a light diffusing roller shade.
Is the large donut shaped cushion spongy? Could you recommend a supplier x
it’s a puck shaped bean bag.
Was wondering what is the size of the vinyl you use and where you purchase it?
Hi Brandi, I don’t have vinyl. Are you referring to the seamless? They are 9 ft rolls.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Thank you for the inspiration! What body/lens are you using?
I shoot with a D700 and in studio my go to lenses are the 50mm 1.4, 24-70, and 105 micro.
Hi Laurie,
Do you use only ambient light when shooting in your studio?
Just window light Joyce.

Love all the blanket choices you have! Amazing colors. Any advice on where I can purchase something similar?
I get blankets everywhere, Target, Ikea, Home Goods…
Thanks Laurie! :)
Do you like the seamless paper? Does it get wrinkle a lot? I am trying to decide if I should go with paper or vinyl.

I use a 50 mm for newborns and a 24-70 for children and families in studio.
The studio space is effect. Can you tell me where you got the sofa? It’s perfect and it would fit so well in my space
I bought it on overstock.com in 2009.
Hi, Can you tell me what over head lights you used? I’m getting my studio done and I don’t know what ceiling lights to get. I Love your studio!
Hi there, I just have regular can lights but they are off when I’m shooting.
Hi Laurie!
First thanks for opening up and sharing this studio, it’s awesome! Can I ask about your couch? I didn’t seem to see an answer to that here!
Thanks!
Jodi
Hi Jodi, I bought it on Overstock.com about 4 years ago.

Diana Jaramillo
It was a 3rd car garage bay and when we punched it into the house we tied it into the house’s ac system.
What direction does your window face? What time do you feel is the best time to shoot with that light?
My window is south facing and I have great light year round from 9-3.
Hi Laurie!
Love your studio! Getting ready to do my bonus room. Looking for dark floors like yours. Do you know the name and color? Are they engineered or laminate?
Thanks.
They are engineered hardwood and I want to say they are from Shaw, I think the color is espresso.
