More twins! Kennede and Jaxon were a little older for a newborn session at 3.5 weeks old. Babies that age tend to be more difficult to get to sleep. These guys were funny ones in that Kennede slept the entire three and a half hours and Jaxon stayed awake for all but 10 minutes! We just had to roll with it but in the end I love the images we captured. Enjoy~

2013 is off to a very busy start and I am so far behind on blogging! I’ve set a goal for myself to catch up over the next few weeks, there’s just too much cuteness not to share it! Sweet little baby planners Jake and Cassidy had their first birthday, here’s a look back at their year with Laurie Sachs Photography. Enjoy~

This is a very special newborn session, one it seems like I waited forever for! Meet my friend Janet and her lovely family. Janet’s son Zack was premature, born at just 31 weeks gestation. He is a happy and healthy boy now but spent months in the NICU and has suffered many health effects related to his prematurity. Last year Janet became pregnant again but her little girl Corrine was born at just 23 weeks, too early to survive. Corrine lived for just 30 minutes. You can imagine the excitement and panic when Janet realized she was pregnant again, with fraternal twins! Every week we all counted down, it was a long and scary road. There were months of bedrest, weeks of hospitalization, medical procedures to try and maintain the pregnancy. We all breathed a sigh of relief when she passed the week she lost Corrine, another when she reached 28 weeks and survival rates went up, another when she passed Zack’s gestation! Every week Janet’s friends got a bit giddier, how far could she go? By sheer will and determination and some amazing medical care the girl made it 37 weeks, delivering FULL TERM HEALTHY TWINS. Last week when we shot the twins newborn session several times we all just stepped back to look at them and cried… and now I’m crying again. What a miracle to watch unfold. A cause that is near and dear to Janet’s heart is the March of Dimes, doing the hard work everyday to prevent prematurity and support the families of premature babies. If you are so inclined please click on through and support the March of Dimes, every little bit counts.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph the most wonderful family! What made their maternity and newborn photo shoots so special is this was their first ever family photos. Prepare to see lots- this family, along with their sweet twins Alejandro and Andres as well as newest addition Adrian, deserves to be highlighted a little. Adrian was a bit of a miracle baby and the whole shoot was overwhelming in such a wonderful way, the love between them just jumps out of the camera. Enjoy.

Life can sometimes be unpredictable, say for instance when you are expecting twins right around the holidays and they come early… before you’ve had a chance to prepare for them. Sometimes you just need to roll with it and have faith it will all be ok. Little Mason and Sydney entered the world in just such a way, oblivious to the fact that they left their parents, and photographer, scrambling :) When their dad Scott called to say they needed newborn photography and the babies, fresh out of the hospital, were nearly 3 weeks old I couldn’t wrap my head around how I could do the session in the middle of the holiday chaos of my business. Scott’s persistence paid off and we agreed to find a way to take the pictures then deal with editing and ordering after the holidays. Scott and his wife Rosie fully expected to not see any pictures until January but a little time and Christmas magic presented themselves today so here’s a sneak peek. There are so many more I can’t wait to share but here are just a few of them together. Merry First Christmas Mason and Sydney!

On that note, Laurie Sachs Photography will be on vacation until January 10th. The only calls or inquiries that will be returned during this time are prebooked newborns that arrive. All other correspondence will be returned in January.
