2010 was an amazing year! My business grew, my family continued to blossom, I am truly blessed. I had 132 photoshoots this year, photographed 45 brand spanking new people. Many of those newborns came back to see me throughout the year as baby planners. You have allowed me to rock and snuggle your babies, capture your giggles, toothless grins, and first steps. Thank you for making this such a memorable year! Laurie Sachs Photography 2010:
Yearly Archives: 2010
You never know what you’re gonna get! Now that Christmas cards are all sent out I’ll share some of my own family’s Christmas shoot. Every year I set out to photograph my family, 4 rambunctious kids from pissy teenagers to tirading toddlers, 2 french bulldogs, and a partridge in a pear tree. I do this photo shoot with a remote determined to be in the pictures myself. This is at best a stupid proposition but somehow it all works out. This year we dragged a couch out to a loading dock for an “urban” shoot… as urban as Santa Clarita gets. My stroke of genius was to bring my mother in law along to jump around behind the camera, kids can’t scowl at their Nana, right? Little did we know when we made these plans that it would be 51 degrees out with heavy freezing wind. We nearly made a Popsicle of our Nana. We can’t thank her enough. I am a fan of outtakes. My kids know this. If you do something stupid during a photo shoot it will likely end up on the card or on the wall, this year was no different. Enjoy my family, all of their noise and craziness makes my heart sing. This is us. From my family to yours a very Merry Christmas!

Every year I take on the task of shooting the 11 grandkids for my mother in law’s card, every year it’s miserable :) My little one makes me work for it for sure. This year I was left singing the wonder pets at the top of my lungs on the side of the road. Briefly, it worked and the little bugger smiled! We were rained out the weekend before so we also had to try and get pictures for my sister in law’s card at the same time. While we were rushed and losing light I am in love with the results. The last picture in this post is one of my favorite images I’ve ever taken of my nieces and nephews, and I’ve taken many. Older kids who listen are awesome.
You may remember Scarlett from her shoot last winter, she’s the baby with the big blue eyes in the opening slideshow of my website. Look how big she’s gotten! Scarlett was back for her one year pictures and she’s a little lady now. We had to do Scarlett’s pictures in two sessions because she was teething and not feeling great. The family was able to come back and get some great images of Scarlett and her brothers Jackson and Riley. The last shot is the last frame I took at the first session. Sweetheart, I think it’s such a lovely image but she clearly just needed a hug at that point.
Life can sometimes be unpredictable, say for instance when you are expecting twins right around the holidays and they come early… before you’ve had a chance to prepare for them. Sometimes you just need to roll with it and have faith it will all be ok. Little Mason and Sydney entered the world in just such a way, oblivious to the fact that they left their parents, and photographer, scrambling :) When their dad Scott called to say they needed newborn photography and the babies, fresh out of the hospital, were nearly 3 weeks old I couldn’t wrap my head around how I could do the session in the middle of the holiday chaos of my business. Scott’s persistence paid off and we agreed to find a way to take the pictures then deal with editing and ordering after the holidays. Scott and his wife Rosie fully expected to not see any pictures until January but a little time and Christmas magic presented themselves today so here’s a sneak peek. There are so many more I can’t wait to share but here are just a few of them together. Merry First Christmas Mason and Sydney!
On that note, Laurie Sachs Photography will be on vacation until January 10th. The only calls or inquiries that will be returned during this time are prebooked newborns that arrive. All other correspondence will be returned in January.
Stella was back for her 11 month pictures all ready for her first Christmas! We had some fun letting her explore the tree. Christmas is so magical through the eyes of someone brand new. Next month, I can hardly believe it, Stella will be a year! For now enjoy Stella with some holiday cheer.
I love to capture expectant parents just before the birth of their first child. I remember what an exciting and joyful time that was for us nearly 14 years ago. Meet Farrah and Arthur, they’ll be welcoming their first child sometime in January. Farrah was just glowing and I just loved the way Arthur looked at her!
