I had another shoot for Advanced Bionics, this time a lovely family from Alberta Canada. They flew in this week so their sons could participate in a clinical trial for a new cochlear implant device just for kids. First we took little Joel up to our favorite preschool to get some pictures of him at play in a class room environment, thank you so much Teddy U for allowing us to pop in! Today I got to photograph 10 day old Owen! Seems like we have been waiting for his arrival forever! I have never seen so much hair on a blondie, and I’ve had a few blond babies myself. Owen is the first grandchild on both sides and boy can you tell just how much he is adored. His grandparents are visiting from out of town so we made sure to incorporate them into the shoot. You could just feel the pride and joy coming from them as they held Owen and I think you can see it on camera too. Owen’s mom hand made the lovliest mobile for his room so I had to capture that too, what better way to symbolize their growing family tree! Enjoy the sneak peek, lots more to come…

I had another shoot for Advanced Bionics today, the local company that manufactures cochlear implants. This little 11 month old cutie is Seth, um yeah… how adorable is he? I just wanted to pinch his cheeks, okay I may have just a little. He and his mommy left the rest of the family in Florida and travelled here this week so that Seth could be part of a clinical trial testing a new device designed for small children. Recently I was contacted by a local company called Advanced Bionics, that manufactures cochlear implants, to take pictures of their patients in action wearing the devices. This week I had the privilege of photographing these two little beauties– Abigail and Lily! Their families were beyond lovely, and what amazing girls they are. I was struck several times during the shoots by what a profound experience it must be to see your deaf child hear something for the first time. After just a few months these girls are developing the normal toddler language skills we all take for granted, something they would have had little hope of before. A few times during our shoot the girls stopped to tell us about something they could hear in the distance, not only did 17 month old Lily hear a dog she told us she heard a “woof woof” and made the sign for it too. I was beyond amazed. Enjoy the sneak peek!

I got to take headshots this weekend of the cutest girl! Meet Shelby, a 13 year old aspiring actress with a big performance coming up this week. Shelby and I got to talk photography too as she is on the yearbook staff at her junior high school. Hope you enjoy the sneak peek, break a leg!
